Although phonemically the language is rather agglutinative, I am writing
affixes and clitics as separate words. This decision is inspired by
orthographies of other Nigerian Benue-Congo languages, especially the
one for Yoruba. The biggest advantage is that complicated sandhi
processes, such as vowel deletion and its effects on tone and other
suprasegmentals, do not have to be transcribed. Although not transcribed
as affixes, all categories described in the Sections "Nominal morphology" and "Verbal morphology" are in fact analyzed as
affixes.
